Dear, oh, Deer!

Last evening, while driving on a dark stretch of country road, there appeared to my left 3 deer. I saw the first one start towards the road, but it was too late to stop ... as a result our van now has a busted light, cracked bumper, broken grill, and crumpled hood. Thankfully, nobody was injured, other than the deer.

Now the fun begins ... getting estimates on repairs.

Update:
Repairs = $3,000+
Days without van = 6
Talk about an expensive deer, and I didn't even get any meat!

I am so sorry about your van. This has to make you sick. I am glad that none of the family was hurt. I hope it doesn't take too long to get it fixed.

The least you could have done was chase down the deer, call Animal Control, obtain a temporary tag, call your brother-in-law to trudge into the field to gut it, stand at the side of the road (to make sure no hunter would happen by to "steal" it), and then....take part of it to a Meat Processor and take the head to get mounted. After all this, proudly display it on you're living room wall for many years. Believe it or not, there's a story behind this. This IS the voice of experience. Seriously, I know hitting a deer is a scary experience. I'm glad no one was hurt. Don't you just hate being without a van!!!

This story brought back memories of when I hit a deer. A few years ago. I was on my way home from work 4-9 shift. I was about 3/4 of the way home and I didn't even get a chance to see it until it was completely upside down in front of me. All four of it's legs were sticking up straight in the air. It threw it up in the air and it came back down. It total the car the bad thing of it was it was our daughters car and she was away out of town and so I had to call her and tell her what had happen. Would you believe it, by the time my husband came to pick me up after the police were done with me and arrived home it was getting late. I had woke the poor girl up to tell her. She said Oh okay good night. You had to have heard her, but it was kind of funny. Thank you again for sharing.
